Going back to your Roots
#1 Nutrition Truth: "The more we eat like our
ancestors, the better: fresh, whole foods that are locally and sustainable
raised and minimally processed or not processed at all. These are the types of
foods that your genes and biochemistry are adapted to and that will provide you
with the ability to reverse and prevent most disease." - Dr. Mercola
I tell my clients all the time to "eat from the
earth." My clients ask me almost
daily what I eat, and I tell them I eat from the earth. For many years, I subscribed to the raw
food/vegan way of life, and I still I support that community, but I no longer
label myself as such. Today, I don't
belong to a box: I found boxes to be to restricting. Over time, I found that I
was in a food community because my ego liked the label, not because that's what
I believed in or because it was the most nutritious or what was best for my
body. I struggled with leaving raw food/vegan-ism after years of
"practicing" that way of life, but today I believe it was the best
decision I ever made. My advice is, to thy own self be true.
Eating whole foods, and eliminating foods that are man-made is
simple but it requires a lot of work and time. A lot of people prefer
convenience over health, choosing unhealthy foods simply because they are more
convenient. But you need to ask yourself, “what’s more important, convenience,
or my health?” For example there were 2
chiropractors In Waterford Michigan who left out a McDonald’s cheeseburger and
a Taco Bell taco on the counter top of their surgery center to see what would
happen for two years. The result was that very little happened. Almost two years later the meals appeared
unchanged. Part of the cheese on the
burger turned dark brown and the taco lettuce had grayed slightly. "There
is no smell from it, it is basically mummified. You can pick it up, turn it
over, and still see the cheese and pickle in the burger." - Dr. Vaughn
Yafan Zhang, professor of food science at Wayne State
University said a preservative called calcium probinate keeps the food looking
near eatable for a long time. He also said that this non toxic product is used
in a range of foods to keep them fresh including bread, cakes, and processed
meats. He continued to say, “This
product is safe to use and eat. Although
it can cause some inflammation in the stomach, it's fine unless you eat it
every day."
Meanwhile, the International Weekly Journal of Science
published an article on inflation and cancer.
"Recent data have expanded the concept that inflammation is a
critical component of tumor progression. Many cancers arise from sites of
infection, chronic irritation and inflammation. These insights are fostering
new anti-inflammatory therapeutic approaches to cancer development."
Eating food full of chemicals causes inflammation, which
causes cancer. Eating whole food like our ancestors is not only healthy, but
they are easily digested and assimilated into our bodies to use for nutrition. We should eat food for nourishment, rather
than taste. I love the food I eat, and it
tastes great to me, but that’s not why I eat it. I eat my food for the effect, just like
putting gas in your car. If your car requires 91 octane and you’re putting 87
octane in your gas tank, it will run for a while but eventually it will blow the
engine. Try giving your engine the best, most nutritious food it needs and
requires so you can run at your optimum levels.
